The Opportunity

TR Construction Group, LLC is seeking a skilled, WSSC-licensed journeyman plumber to run residential service calls and installations with a high degree of independence under the direction of our master plumber. This role suits a plumber who has completed the required hours, passed the WSSC journeyman exam, and is ready to own jobs from diagnosis through completion.

What You'll Do

  • Independently perform service, repair, and installation work on water, drain/waste/vent, and gas systems in residential settings.
  • Provide sewer and drain cleaning services.
  • Accurately diagnose problems and recommend appropriate, code-compliant repairs.
  • Install and service water heaters, fixtures, valves, sump and sewage pumps, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and rough-in measurements.
  • Mentor and direct apprentice plumbers on the job site.
  • Provide clear estimates and explain work and pricing to customers professionally.
  • Complete accurate documentation, invoicing, and material tracking.
  • Ensure all work meets the WSSC plumbing code and passes inspection.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and inventory.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid WSSC Journeyman Plumber license: minimum 7,500 hours of plumbing-trade work experience under the direction and control of a WSSC-licensed Master Plumber, and passage of the WSSC Journeyman Plumber examination (administered by PSI). Reciprocal licensees from the Maryland State Board, Baltimore County, or Virginia may qualify.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Solid working knowledge of the WSSC plumbing code and safe work practices.
  • Strong diagnostic, customer-service, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid WSSC Journeyman Plumber license: minimum 7,500 hours of plumbing-trade work experience under the direction and control of a WSSC-licensed Master Plumber, and passage of the WSSC Journeyman Plumber examination (administered by PSI). Reciprocal licensees from the Maryland State Board, Baltimore County, or Virginia may qualify.

Compensation

  • Hourly: $32 – $43 / hour, based on experience and productivity.
  • Salary equivalent: ~$67,000 – $90,000 / year.
  • Overtime: time-and-a-half (1.5×) for hours over 40 per week.
  • On-call: on-call rotation with premium pay — as applicable
  • Recommended structure: hourly base plus commission.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs; occasionally more with assistance.
  • Work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and trenches.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
